I broke a shovel
Well, I think I am doing pretty well on this garden. Today I cleaned out some unused pots and stacked them on the side of the garage. I also cleared some pine needles from a coner area of the garden and layied some brick down. I then put a pot down there.
The reason I put another pot in the garden, if you were wondering, is because I got a new plant. It's called a Lemon Cucumber. Based on the little picture on its tag it is going to look like yellow/orange squash but when you cut it open it will look like a cucumber. We will have to see what it's like.
Everything is growing pretty well. I even thought of a cool idea. When I plant the tomato plants a long with some marigolds I put seeds in with them. Once the basil gets big enough I am going to pull some out and put them into smaller pots. Then I can give them to friends as gifts. I think it would be a fun thing to do and it would thin the basil so it wouldn't crowed out the tomato plants.
So today was round two with the tree. Brenton and I won round one when we chopped it down and bagged it up. The reason, so you know, we took the tree out was because it was planted to close to the house and now was at a 45 degree angle. Anyways back to round two. We have to take the stump out because we are going to put some bushes in it place. I was digging around the stump to find the roots. When I would get to a set I would cut them. No easy task in itself. When I got threw two sets of roots I had gotten the stump to the point where I could use the shovel to wiggle the stump to find out where the root where. I was pushing the shovel when I heard a loud snap and it was gone. My arms flew over my head and I waited to get hit by the shovel. Lucky for me I didn't and it landed about a foot in front of me. Well, the top piece did the bottom piece was sticking straight up in the air with the shovel part still in the ground. I think it is safe to say that the tree has won this round.
