well, yeah

So I am going to start over with the garden.
How would I decribe last years garden. A failure.
The reason I think it was a failure was one the fact that we were in a severe drought here in Texas. Also the bird kept eating our tomatos.
This last Christmas my future sister in law gave me a book on growing stuff for my area.
So I start a new year a gardening filled with hope. Time will only tell if it gets crushed or not

The Start

So I have started a blog on my adventures in gardening. I don't have that much experience so I have a feeling I am going to be learning a lot. I have started with different types of tomato plants, a couple of herbs, broccoli, cucumber, different peppers, strawberries, cantaloupe, crookneck squash, arugula, and romaine. I broke a shovel

Well, I think I am doing pretty well on this garden. Today I cleaned out some unused pots and stacked them on the side of the garage. I also cleared some pine needles from a coner area of the garden and layied some brick down. I then put a pot down there. The reason I put another pot in the garden, if you were wondering, is because I got a new plant. It's called a Lemon Cucumber. Based on the little picture on its tag it is going to look like yellow/orange squash but when you cut it open it will look like a cucumber. We will have to see what it's like. Everything is growing pretty well. I even thought of a cool idea. When I plant the tomato plants a long with some marigolds I put seeds in with them. Once the basil gets big enough I am going to pull some out and put them into smaller pots. Then I can give them to friends as gifts. I think it would be a fun thing to do and it would thin the basil so it wouldn't crowed out the tomato plants. So today was round two with t...

We've Got Color!!

Today I was greeted to a surprise. When I was starting my gardening I found one of our strawberries had started to get color! I am so happy. I checked on it yesterday and it was pure white and now...well you see. I guess this means we are going to have to start defending our garden from the birds.
