Weeds be gone and flowers are here!

Ok, the weeds and left over pepper plants from last year are gone! It went pretty fast too. maybe it has to do with the fact that it is a small space but it took about half the day to clear out. Also a lot of the weeds had pretty shallow roots.

Next the flowers!!
I did buy a small packet of sweet pea flowers seeds and a butterfly seed mix bag at target but other than that I got my flowers at Home Depot and Houston Garden center. I did pick a few plants that need a lot of sun but most of them are half sun. I also got a few that are shade plants for the corner that doesn't get that much sun.

 As you can see Pepper is keeping a close eye on what I am doing. To her left you can see I put up some small latticing up. I got some pink jasmine to grow on it in hopes of concealing the pool equipment from our sight. Maybe even block some sound but I really doubt that.

After all the plants i got the color are mostly pinks, purples, whites, and yellows. Along with all the greens in the leaves.

I broke a shovel

Well, I think I am doing pretty well on this garden. Today I cleaned out some unused pots and stacked them on the side of the garage. I also cleared some pine needles from a coner area of the garden and layied some brick down. I then put a pot down there. The reason I put another pot in the garden, if you were wondering, is because I got a new plant. It's called a Lemon Cucumber. Based on the little picture on its tag it is going to look like yellow/orange squash but when you cut it open it will look like a cucumber. We will have to see what it's like. Everything is growing pretty well. I even thought of a cool idea. When I plant the tomato plants a long with some marigolds I put seeds in with them. Once the basil gets big enough I am going to pull some out and put them into smaller pots. Then I can give them to friends as gifts. I think it would be a fun thing to do and it would thin the basil so it wouldn't crowed out the tomato plants. So today was round two with t...

We've Got Color!!

Today I was greeted to a surprise. When I was starting my gardening I found one of our strawberries had started to get color! I am so happy. I checked on it yesterday and it was pure white and now...well you see. I guess this means we are going to have to start defending our garden from the birds.
